“Spooling Around” - chapter of The Appliqué Society

The Appliqué Society (TAS) was organized in April 1997 and the first newsletter was published in September 1997. Membership is open to anyone interested in appliqué. TAS has members in the USA, Canada, and Australia. Dues for the national organization are $25 a year. Members receive a bimonthly newsletter containing patterns, techniques and articles.

The name of our local group is “Spooling Around”. We meet each month, on the 4th Monday at Bonn-Fire Restaurant in Chino Valley at 9:30 am. (Meetings are being temporarily held at the Chino Valley Public Library until the restaurant reopens following a kitchen fire in May 2015). Visitors may attend two meetings before joining the national organization.

In 2013 the Board of Directors of The Appliqué Society invited local chapters to take part in a challenge: Make a 48”x48” quilt based on the theme Baltimore Album, with the colors of the TAS logo (green, blue, red and yellow). Our chapter quilt was designed by Lucille Hurley, and appliquéd by chapter members, and quilted by Cindy Phare.

Pictured are TAS members with their chapter challenge quilt:
