Workshops are offered to members and those on the waitlist when space is available on a regular basis.  When you sign up for a workshop, carefully read the instructions for fees and supplies.  Fees are due and payable on the date of signup to hold your space.  If you cannot attend, the fee will be refunded if your cancellation is received 2 weeks prior to the date of the class.

Workshops are held at the Yavapai Hills Clubhouse. When the class is on a Monday after
our regular meeting, the class will begin at 1pm and run until approximately 4pm. Whole day classes start at 9am (arrive by 8:30am for setup) and usually run until 4pm with a 1 hour lunch break.

August
2010

August brings us Gail Garber from New Mexico.  Gail’s well known for her circular borders and designing with free form shapes.  Her two-day class is entitled “Sensational Stars and Spectacular Circular Borders”.  Here’s a chance to learn a technique that could lead you on a new path in quilting.  Her lecture is entitled, “Liberalism in Quilting:  Free-Form Art Quilts”.   Gail’s website is:  www.gailgarberdesigns.com.

Sept.
2010

September is when Rami Kim visits us.  Rami is a DNA scientist turned fabric artist, quilter and instructor who is known both nationally and internationally.  Her lecture is entitled “Two by Two” showcasing her wearable art and matching quilts, handbags or dolls.  Her workshop will be on “Folded Fabric Elegance” from her book of the same name.  I’ve asked Rami for a supply list so I can provide it to you and I hope to receive it shortly.  Rami’s website is:  www.ramikim.com.

Oct.
2010

October will be the month that Rachel Clark drops by.  Rachel comes from a long line of sewers and has been doing wearable art since 1973.  She says her garments can be “whimsical, political or practical but they always reflect her love of traditional quiltmaking.”  Rachel’s lecture is a fashion show entitled,  “Anatomy of a Garment”.  She’ll need 6-8 models sizes 6-16 and so think about helping out—it should be fun. Her workshop is a technique class where you will learn fast piecing, appliqué, fake bound buttonholes, piping and “anything else that pops into Rachel’s head”.  Rachel’s website is:  www.rdkc.com

Nov.
2010

November we have a visitor from Illinois.  Mickey Depre award winning quilter who posts a warning stating all workshop attendees must come prepared to laugh, share, learn and above all enjoy!  Her quilts have been described as whirlwinds of color.  Dots, swirls and stripes intermingle with florals and prints in an outlandish yet exciting visual parade.  Well, this sounds like something that will perk up those chilly fall days!  She sounds very interesting and I’m excited to see her work.  Mickey’s website is:  www.mdquilts.com
